Thoughts on Equality

Just reading comments on an article about women being allowed in combat situations and found this one particularly interesting “Most men don’t abhor or fear women. We just hate double standards. I think women should be in front-line combat. I think they should have to register with Selective Services when they turn 18 like every other male in the US. I also think that large corporations should start funding programs for male self esteem along side similar programs for girls. I want to see magnets on cars supporting testicular cancer research just as often as I see ones supporting breast cancer. The whole equality thing is a two-way street.”

I hate double standards too. Women, if we want the right to serve the country in combat situations and be paid the same in the work force, then why would we allow ourselves special treatment like being allowed to do “girly” pushups in gym class, or following the “ladies first” rule of etiquette?

If we want equality, lets actually work for equality.

William B. “Bill” Watterson II.

Al maestro, con cariño.

I can’t believe how much he looks like Calvin’s dad.

I can.

Especially since Calvin’s dad seems to be a mix of Watterson’s dad and Bill himself.

My hero.
